Led by the experts:
Funded in part by grants from the National Science Foundation and supported in part through
the generosity of Prentice Hall, IBM and Sun, these workshops are designed and particularly
appropriate for instructors wishing to:
- Increase retention among computer science students
- Attract students into computer science
- Provide a programming component for a computer literacy course
- Aid in AP CS courses
You may register for one, two or all three events!
The Alice & Media Computation workshops and the Alice Symposium will be held at Duke University in the Levine Science Research Center and the Fitzpatrick Center. All workshop materials will be provided. A laptop is required for both workshops. Each of these workshops will be offered at multiple levels.
- The two versions of the Alice workshop will be using Alice 2.2 (targeting non-major, pre-CS1, and pre-AP CS courses) and using Alice 3 (targeting CS1 and AP CS).
- The Media Computation workshop will be offered at beginner and advanced levels.
Pior knowledge of Java, C++, or another object-oriented language, is expected
for the Media Computation Workshop.
Registration is limited. We have funding for only a limited number of hotel rooms. Please indicate if you are requesting accommodations on the registration form. Upon registration, we will inform you if your hotel room is covered.
